Blunt Security are a cyber security consultancy that work with IT businesses to advise their clients on how to be more secure with their data and digital platforms.
They approached us to design their new identity after previously supporting their parent company with design, marketing and print support since 2012. After a briefing meeting to discuss the drivers behind Blunt Security and where the business will head towards in the coming months, we set about creating a stylish new identity.
A Beautiful Typographic Icon
‘Incorporating two letters into a single eye-catching and memorable mark’ was the brief we settled on after our initial meeting with the client. The end result is a contemporary upper case letter B and S that sat over the top of one another to create a distinctive shape that forms the icon in the new logo.
Simple Contemporary Typography
As a very modern business, the typography within the logo simply had to be contemporary. We needed a slick modern font that wouldn’t compete with our icon, but support it to stand out as the key feature in the composition. We settled on an Adobe Creative Cloud font called Averta as the core logo font. A simple sans serif with multiple weights and plenty of presence at the heavier end of the scale.
The project brief also contained a stipulation for the new logo to retain:
‘An adaptable composition that allowed flex in application across different media but still achieve a consistent look and feel wherever it is placed’
The ‘stackability‘ of the core elements needed to be carefully considered on order to give us flexibility in the orientation of the logo; as well as different colourways to work on coloured backgrounds.
