Since the latter stages of 2016, we’ve seen a steady increase in the amount of design for web that we are doing on a weekly basis. Our bread and butter will always be branding and design for print but it is very noticeable at how important the world wide web is for all sorts of businesses. Our online work is completed with the support of our development partners Inlife, and the strategic partnership has been a fantastic way of working and a fruitful business relationship to date. With our specialism in creativity, aesthetics and the detail of the design, Inlife bring a skill set that is perfectly complimentary – coding, web development, mobile application development and hosting.
But what does this mean for our clients?
Simply put, they’re getting two experts for the price of one. The partnership allows us both to focus entirely on our defined areas of specialism, so our clients can be assured of creative excellence within the front end interface design as well as a robust and cutting edge development that will stand the test of time. The sites that we have designed and developed have been engaging, easy to navigate, well balanced and enhance the brand of the client. The main purpose of website should always be draw more leads and opportunities to do business. We achieve this by looking at the best way for visitors to make an approach to our client via the site. Once we establish this, we look to build in Calls to Action, data capture modules and call back features depending on what the brief depicts.
Inlife director Chris Smith commented on the working relationship that our companies share, “Working with Design Pit is great because they are designers first and foremost. They have the skills and experience to know what will or won’t work, what will look good and how best to achieve the right look and feel for a site. They don’t concern themselves with the coding or development of a site in the early stages but focus entirely on what will look best; this is a great way to work when dealing with a new website project. We love working with Design Pit as they take on board our concerns with visual features that may cause issues with complex code and we work out a way of achieving a solution together. It is great working with designers who work with you rather than fighting against you; our knowledge of code and development is better than theirs but they have a better knowledge of design than us.”
Some of the latest sites that have been launched through the Design Pit and Inlife collaborative partnership are Expo Floors and Rapide Products. Two very different sites in terms of scale, purpose and design but two triumphs of design/development! Expo Floors is a large scale site that takes in different levels of interaction with clients from the humble contact form to an indepth quoting form that draws a comprehensive level of detailed requirements that allows Expo to provide a more accurate quotation. There are downloadable PDF data sheets, a demo zone full of video content to support clients in using Expo products and a vast amount of information on the company, history and environmental impact.
Rapide Products is a very different site, much smaller in scale and the purpose of this site is purely to enhance the brand, give a sense of heightened scale of the business and push customers to a trade log in to purchase products in bulk. The main customer log in area is a predefined web portal provided by Rapide’s main supplier in China, this is plugged into the new site we designed and developed. Our design remit was to focus on the rest of the site and leave this established buying area alone. The end result of this project is a colourful and engaging website that brings Rapide firmly into the 21st Century after decades of old, clunky and dated websites.
Rapide Products director Jamie McDonald said, “Design Pit were fantastic and helped us to understand what we needed to do to get this site redesigned. There is a lot more to a website than meets the eye and we have very little technical knowledge so didn’t know where to start. Bringing in a design company was a great decision for us as they explained things on a level that we could understand and didn’t baffle us with technical jargon and acronyms! The whole process was smooth and easy, the designers were very clear in their designs, suggestions and thinking and the developers were fast getting the site built on a demo server for us to look at and play with before we were ready to launch.”
Other news, our company magazine Pit Stop launched earlier this year and you can order the most recent edition by emailing your postal address to us. The magazine has a small but interested audience mainly across North Birmingham, the demographic is business owners, sales managers and decision makers in SME to mid sized corporates.
